Arms ammunition and hunting conditions

The distances that we will be shooting can range between 70 and 250 meters. Flat-shooting calibers in the .270 Winchester - .300 Winchester Magnum range are preferable, although larger calibers, such as .375 Holland Magnum can come in handy. Telescopic sights with a 6x magnification are more than adequate. We will work the hunt on foot in the hills and hunting fitness is a pre-requisite.

Climate and vegetation

Temperatures vary from –3°C to 20°C in winter and 15°C to 40°C in summer. The vegetation consists mainly of typical Eastern Cape Acacia thorn Bushveld, valley Bushveld and thicket. The biotope varies between mountainous regions, bushveld, grasslands and savannah.

Clothing and gear

During the months of March, October and November light clothing can be worn during the day and a light jacket at night. Due to the thorn Bushveld, strong clothing is advisable. From May to September, the nights and early mornings are cold, which requires warmer clothing and gloves. Do not forget your pair of well-worn boots, a hat and sunscreen.
